‘Wat is indie?’ Ik heb nog steeds geen idee eigenlijk. Toch voelt Perfect Indie Disco als een heel logisch feestje, ook al valt het wat lastig uit te leggen. ‘Maar wat draai je dan?’ Nou ja, gewoon goeie liedjes. ‘Geen hip hop?’ Jawel hoor, tuurlijk. ‘Je doet alleen maar wat je zelf wilt zeker?’ Dat is misschien wel een goeie samenvatting. Wat vind jij indie dan? ‘Chef Special en Kings Of Leon’.

Het moeilijke aan de term indie is ook het prettige, je kunt het zelf invullen. De setlist van afgelopen zaterdag geeft wel een goed beeld van de definitie volgens Perfect Indie Disco. Maar misschien ook niet. Muziektermen zijn uiteindelijk gewoon vervelend. Om Louis Armstrong er maar weer bij te halen: All music is folk music, I never heard no horse sing no song.

Ik heb de setlist vanaf een uur of twaalf opgepikt. Een saaie versie en een uitsloof-variant met clipjes en plaatjes. EKKO puilde uit, net als mijn glimlach als ik er weer aan denk. 23 december is de volgende. Benieuwd hoe de definitie van indie dan zal klinken!
